The post social age is not the age built after the age of social media, it’s the age built on top of social media.

A HELL OF A JOB
Advertising agency in Israel is interviewing programmers inside Diablo 3
BBR Saatchi&Saatchi IL, is recruiting a “god damned” good programmer in a place where you can usually find them nowadays – in the realms of the most popular game ever released, Diablo 3.
This is the first time that a job interview is taking place inside the realms of a computer game – a great opportunity not only to make the usually stressful interviewing process more fun, but also to appeal to the target audience, and let them show their skills in a place they feel at home (hell).
Yossi Lubaton, the agency’s CEO (and a Level 60 Barbarian), will be waiting for worthy candidates who will rise up to the challenge. They will play alongside Lubaton’s character in some of the toughest multiplayer missions the game has to offer.
During the mission, the candidates will be asked a series of personal and professional questions, and will also be judged by his game skills: fast reaction time, creative thinking and teamwork.
He who excels the interview in hell, will score the legendary Warmonger sword, one of the most hard-to-get items in the game, along with tons of gold and will be summoned to an interview with Lubaton in the agency’s offices.
I love that gaming and the real world are colliding. As they do, I think that gaming starts to present more hints at the world ahead. Much like sci-fi always has. If you read this article I think you’ll see not just some hints at the future of gaming but the future.
An ad company used social advertising on LinkedIn to target journalists and influencers using a game. An ad company targeting media? Isn’t that PR’s job?
Brilliant.
p.s. This is not gamification. It’s just using a game.
Social gaming is a big business and I’m wondering if it’s finally starting to peak. Some places like Japan are starting to scrutinize monetization methods used and the life span of games seems to be getting shorter and shorter. Recent news that Draw Something’s numbers, post acquisition, are nosediving.
I personally don’t think social gaming numbers are dropping but I do think a shift in the market will take place. I think the games themselves will need to evolve. I think they’ll need to keep pushing towards mobile and I think they need to start making the leap beyond just Facebook games. I think over the next few years AR games will become a very big deal.
